These chess pieces are hand made by alabaster and resin and have been hand painted. They represent the time of the grape harvest together with celebrating Baccus, the god of Wine.

Every detail is connected to the grape harvest theme.

On the chessboard the white and black chess pieces are represented with the colors of the wine: the gold grapevine for the white chess, the red wine one for the black chess.

Every single chess piece is enriched by the presence of the grapevines while only the most important of them, the king and the queen pieces, have also the wine glasses to drink the wine. The chess base is the vat, the place where the grapevines are pressed.
The towers are very detailed and beautiful, with a lot of architectural features to admire.

This representation allows you to ‘breath’ the happy feeling diffused among the participants in the bacchanalia.
